Course Title Basic Automotive Maintenance

Description An introduction to general automotive systems and service procedures. This course is designed to familiarize students with the automotive industry learning how to properly service and maintain today's vehicles, knowing how to understand what a service repair facility is saying to them when they are having a vehicle repaired, and the requirements to continue on becoming an automotive repair technician if desired. Class time consists of lecture on theory of preventative maintenance procedures and systems, basic operation of automotive tools, shop safety, computerized online information systems, written assignments, and basic automotive repair techniques. Lab time consists of students applying concepts learned with hands-on experience while working on student owned vehicles and school mockups.
